Room at the History House

We rented a room at the History House for the duration of our time in Corfu Town, located due south of the centre near to the tennis courts and the archaeological museum. Set within a historic building, the interior is painted in pastels and furnished with charming period decor. If it were not for some of the more modern appliances—such as a Nespresso machine in the room—one may feel as though they had just checked into a Venetian guesthouse in the 1700s. I enjoyed the ornate furnishings, and eating breakfast in the courtyard each morning. There was a striking portrait of a mature lady as you climbed the stairs that left a lasting impression, it was very large and well painted, she looked as though she ought to be the matron of the residence, a wise woman.
